The Spain national football team represents Spain in international association football and is controlled by the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the governing body for football in Spain. The current head coach is Vicente del Bosque. The Spanish side is commonly referred to as La Furia Roja (The Red Fury) or La Roja (The Red [One]).
Spain are the current reigning World and European champions, having won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship. Spain also won the 1964 European Nations' Cup and reached the UEFA Euro 1984 Final. In July 2008 Spain rose to the top of the FIFA World Rankings for the first time in the team's history, becoming the sixth nation to top this ranking, and the first nation to top the ranking without previously having won the World Cup. Between November 2006 and June 2009 Spain went undefeated for a record-tying 35 consecutive matches before their loss to the United States, a record shared with Brazil, including a record 15-game winning streak and thus earning third place in the FIFA Confederations Cup. Recently, the team has become known for using a style of play which involves roaming movement and positional interchange amongst midfielders, moving the ball in intricate patterns, and sharp, one- or two-touch passing; this style of play has been dubbed Tiki-taka (or Tiqui-taca), which is also associated with FC Barcelona.
As of April 28, 2010, the top five football teams, according to the International Federation of football FIFA are as follow: The first team is Brazil, the second team is Spain, the 3rd team is Portugal and finally the 5th team is Italy.

The Portuguese Football Federation governs the Portuguese national football team, the team representing the country of Portugal. Their first appearance in the FIFA Cup was in the year 1966. They attained the 4th place in the 2006. For the record, they had been awarded the team of the Year of 2008 and 2009, second place in the year 1994, and third place in the years 2002 and 2003. The team is also known with the name Selecção das Quinas which means the five shields or the five dots inside the Portuguese flag.
Netherlands currently is ranking in the fourth place. The Netherlands national football team, controlled by the Royal Netherlands Football Association, is the national football team of Holland. They had eight appearances and their first appearance in the FIFA World Cup was in the year 1934. In the eight finals appearances, they have gone to the final twice and almost won it for the years 1974 and 1978. Also, they were fourth in the year 1998 in France. The team is also known with names such as Oranje, Holland, The Flying Dutchmen, Clockwork Orange, and La Naranja Mecanica.
Controlled by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, the Italian national team is representing Italy in the world cup. The team is also known as the Azzurri which means the Team of Blue. They are currently in the 5th place in the FIFA ranking. They have won the 2006 FIFA World Cup which leaves them as the current World Champions.
They already had 16 appearances in the World Cup and the first was in the year 1934. They had four champion titles over all in the history of World Cup which made them as the second most successful national football team after the Brazilian national team.
