Peyton List

Early life

List was born in Boston, Massachusetts but grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up with her older sister, Brittany and her parents, Sherri and Douglass. She began her education at Cedarcroft pre-school and Calvert School, and then went to the Roland Park Country School in Baltimore. At the age of eight, she connected with Camera Ready Kids, a children's modeling agency. Her first significant commercial appearance was as one of the "daughters next door" (together with her sister) in Washington Square, the film by Agnieszka Holland, where she enjoyed meeting Jennifer Jason Leigh and Maggie Smith. She also appeared as a Christmas Caroler in Enemy of the State, also filmed in Baltimore.

Brittany began modeling in New York, with Peyton joining her. Peyton's early successes included television commercials for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and Little Monkey Lost. At the age of 12 she was invited to attend the School of American Ballet's summer program. Under the tutelage of Ford Kids, Peyton did major campaigns with Limited Too (she appears on the inside cover of Limited Two's IPO), Polo Ralph Lauren, and other advertisers seeking to reach the young teen market. Soon, List was leaving school two or three times a week for modeling assignments, as she was acknowledged to be the "perfect" children's size 10. Thanks to a partnering arrangement between Ford Children and Innovative Artists, at the age of 15, she signed a three year contract with As the World Turns playing Lucy Montgomery.
Career
Modeling

List became connected with Ford Children agency. She has modelled for Dooney & Bourke as well as Clean & Clear. She has graced the cover of Girls' Life magazine more times than any other model. List has also appeared on covers for Your PROM (2002) and Bridal Guide (2004).
[edit] Acting
[edit] Television

List won a minor role in Sex and the City. Following her appearance on the HBO series in 2000, she continued to audition and won a small a role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. In 2004 she tested for the part of Lucy Montgomery on As the World Turns and was eventually offered the role.

Peyton left the show in 2004 and was next seen as Lucy Lane in an episode of the long-running television series Smallville and the Just Legal pilot. In the same year, she had guest roles, including playing a prostitute in Without a Trace, a rich girl in the CSI: Miami and CSI: NY crossover and Solaris, a 15 year old model, in the CW's One Tree Hill.

In 2006, List appeared as Tally Reida on on NBC's Windfall in multiple episodes. After the series was cancelled during its first season, List moved on the short lived Day Break, appearing in 3 episodes as Ava. During the 2007 pilot season, List signed on ABC's Big Shots, where she played the role of Cameron Collinsworth, daughter of a cosmetics firm CEO played by Dylan McDermott. The series was short lived and thus cancelled mid-season.

List continued her way through guest roles including Moonlight and Ghost Whisperer in 2008. Subsequently, she returned to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and a magician's assistant in Monk in the following year.

In 2008, List was once again seen on TV in the critically acclaimed TC series Mad Men, playing Don Draper's fill-in secretary who later became Roger Sterling's child bride. In 2009, Peyton signed on to ABC's short-lived TV series Flashforward.

Peyton reprised her role as Lucy Lane on the final season of Smallville in the episode titled "Ambush", aired on November 5, 2010.

In early December 2010, List played Erica Harris, a newlywed with amnesia and a survivor of a potential serial killer in CBS' Hawaii Five-0 episode "Palekeiko".
[edit] Movies

In 1996, Peyton made her first big screen appearance in Washington Square. While working on As the World Turns, List was offered the small role of Sarah Wallis in Bill Paxton's The Greatest Game Ever Played alongside Shia LaBeouf, who was playing golf champion Francis Ouimet. The 2005 movie was a critical and box-office success.

In 2008, she starred in two independent movies - Deep Winter alongside Michael Madsen, Eric Lively and Kellan Lutz, and the horror thriller Shuttle. Peyton stated that she did all her own stunts for the film. The film made its debut at the South by Southwest Festival and received mixed reviews.

In 2011, List was cast in the Chris Fisher thriller Meeting Evil along side Samuel L Jackson, Luke Wilson and Leslie Bibb.

Here's another actress who was previously featured in a multi-celebrity post. Amazon and iTunes links follow. Any affiliate payments earned from your purchase or rental will help pay the hosting fees for my podcasts, so please consider clicking.

Name: Peyton List (images | Web site | Twitter)
Hometown: Baltimore, Md., according to her Wikipedia entry.
Best Known For: A former child actress and model, List co-starred on the short-lived ABC science fiction drama FlashForward and has shown up twice on Smallville as Lois Lane's troublesome younger sister, Lucy. (Lois, of course, is played by fellow crush Erica Durance.)

With slightly more gravitas, she's recurred on AMC's 1960s drama Mad Men as a secretary-turned-trophy wife of an ad executive played by the mighty John Slattery.

She's not, it should be noted, the actress seen in 27 Dresses or Cashmere Mafia.
Humble Beginnings: Teenage work included As the World Turns and a couple of episodes of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit all before she turned 18. I usually just list credits done in adulthood (with an exception for voice work), so those aren't below.

Other credits include the short-lived Big Shots, Windfall, Moonlight, and Day Break, plus the film The Greatest Game Ever Played and single appearances on Monk, Ghost Whisperer and each of the three CSI series (including a crossover between the New York and Miami branches that featured fellow celebrity crush Kat Dennings as her sister). She's also appeared this season in the Hawaii Five-O reboot.
Why Ye Olde Podcaster Likes Her: Have you SEEN this woman? OK, she's a little thin for my tastes, but as eye candy ... I think that FlashForward would have done much better in the ratings if they'd found a way to keep her half-dressed as she was in the pilot. Sexist but true.

That said, I've enjoyed watching her characters take on a little more depth on both that series -- which really deserved more than one season -- and Mad Men, and it was good to see her reappear as Lucy
Goddamn.
